It’s not often that an endless runner comes out of nowhere and just hits you over the head like a sledgehammer. Never Yield by @Aerial_Knight is that sledgehammer. Let’s jump into the trailer.

Never Yield is a 3D side scrolling endless runner with style and what sounds like it may be a bangin soundtrack. Here is the first track The Man Who Out Ran Time by Daniel Wilkins.

You take on the role of Wally. A kid out to get back items of his past. You have to be fast enough to outrun your enemies and expose the truths.

Looks like Mr Knight is a one man shop. I might have to talk to him about art for my game. The game may be dark but everything else pops off the screen. It’s a nice blend of color which can help when you’re playing the game. A lot of endless runners have colors that blend in too much and you end up jumping or sliding way too early or late.

You can wishlist the game on Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield on Steam (steampowered.com)

The game is also available on itch.io Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield by Aerial_Knight (itch.io)

Next up is Oslo the Professional by @jfmiller_tt. I don’t have much info on the game (I will have to fix that.) But who doesn’t want to be a polar bear who goes around kicking ass and taking names.

The game plays very much like an old school 2D platformer spy based game and I’m all in.

For more info you can give him a follow on Twitter.

Next is Hazlenut Bastille by @aloftstudio. You may be familiar with game since it did have a successful Kickstarter.

The first thing that probably comes to mind is Zelda. But as you can see, there is a lot more action in this game.

I could go on and on about Zelda since it will always be one of my favorite games but I’ll let the video do the talking on this one.

You can wishlist the game on Steam at Hazelnut Bastille on Steam (steampowered.com)

You can also still preorder a copy through Backerkit Preorder Hazelnut Bastille, a 16bit Indie Adventure on BackerKit

Next on my list is a game that I saw in #Pitchyagame and wanted to include in a post but life kind of got away from me. So without further ado, Mandragora by @mandragoragame.

The tweet kind of gives away what the game is about and leaves me with not much else to say about it. I do love the look of this one and can’t wait to see it when it’s finished. Definitely gives off that old school Castlevania aura.

For this one I don’t have wishlist info yet but will update it when it’s available.

To round out my February 5 I’m going with Gestalt: Steam & Cinder, a steampunk driven, 2D platformer by @GestaltGame which also has a Castlevania vibe.

I have to admit the first thing that brought me to their Twitter was the images. A lot of pixels in action. You can tell how work is going into the game just by looking at it. Take a look for yourself.

There are a lot of “metroidvanias” these days and you have to find a way to stand out from the crowd. I believe this one does. Can’t wait to see how it comes out.

You can hop on over to Steam to wishlist this one at Gestalt: Steam & Cinder on Steam (steampowered.com)

Those are my 5 for February. See you next time.
